זְרַזI, Pa. זָרֵיז same; 1) to be quick, to hurry. Targ. Y. II Gen. 24:20 (h. text מהר).Targ. Ps. 70:2 זְרֵיז ed. (Ms. זָ׳; h. text חוש); a. e.Part. Pe. זָרִיז, Pa. מְזָרֵז; pl. זְרִיזִין, זַרְזִין, מְזָרְזִין. Targ. Y. I, II Num. 9:8, opp. מתון; v. also זָרִיז. 2) to quicken, strengthen. Yeb.102b (expl. יחליץ, Is. 58:11) זָרוּזֵי גרמי it means quickening the bones. Cant. R. to II, 10 זָרֹוזִי גרמיך (not זרורזי) make thyself ready; Pesik. R. s. 15 זָרְזִי. 3) (cmp. זֵיר, אָזַר) to tie around, gird, arm; to harness, saddle. Targ. O. Gen. 14:14. Targ. Job 38:3 זָרֵיז Ms. (ed. זְרֵיז, זְרַז). Targ. O. Ex. 29:9; a. fr.Part. pass. מְזָרַז, pl. מְזַרְזִין, מְזַרְזַיָּא armed. Ib. 13:18. Targ. Is. 15:4; a. fr.Yeb. l. c. (ref. to וחלצה, Deut. 25:9) ואימא זָרחּיֵ הוא may I not say, it means tying on? Ithpa. אִזְדָּרֵז, Ithpe. אִזְדְּרִיז 1) to strengthen ones self (so as not to give way to emotion). Targ. Y. Gen. 43:31. Targ. Esth. 5:10. 2) to gird ones self, be armed. Targ. Num. 32:17; 20; a. e.Targ. Prov. 30:31, v. זַרְכֵּל.Sifré Num. s. 157 אין החלצו אלא אִיזְדָּרְזוּ heḥaltsu (Num. 31:3) means, be armed; Yalk Ib. 785 הִזְדָּרְזוּ (Hebr.).
